Barry House on Riverton - Large group - sleeps 12 (max 14)
Charming, spacious 4 star exclusive self-catering historic manor house with large outdoor braai area overlooking the horse paddocks. Has 4 climate controlled en-suite bedrooms and 2 bedrooms, each with a fan & panel heater, that share a bathroom. Ideal for large groups of family or friends.
Wine Down Cottage - sleeps 2
Luxury, modern hideaway overlooking the farm dam. Has one en-suite bedroom with freestanding bath and a shower, an open plan living, kitchen, indoor braai & dining room, and an outdoor shower and outdoor braai and a separate dedicated study to ‘work from home’.
Long stay discounts are available for writers and those looking to escape to the country for a while.
A Safe Getaway
We are fortunate to live in a beautiful safe part of the country. However, all the farms in our area are randomly patrolled by a private security company, Robertson Risk Management, proactively founded by the local farmers. Entry and exit roads in the area are monitored with CCTV cameras. As first emergency responders they are also trained in first aid, have a fire truck on standby, a canine unit and a trained snake handler. They will notify the relevant authorities should the need arise.
Foaling Season
September to November
One of the few places in the world where guests may have the opportunity to see a foaling!
There are no guarantees, but many of our guests have been fortunate to witness a mare give birth. Mares tend to foal between midnight and 5am. Guests are welcome to leave a mobile number for a wakeup call. Have your jacket & boots ready as it can happen within 10 minutes!
Please whisper so as not to distract the mare.
The ‘maternity’ paddock and foaling units are conveniently situated adjacent to the Barry House on Riverton garden.
Wine Tasting
No need to designate a driver for your large group to go wine tasting! Phone Johan Smit Charter Services on 082 666 9884 to book a bus to take your party wine tasting – local wine estates of your choice. Best to book this activity for Saturday morning or midweek as many of the wineries are closed on Saturday afternoon and Sundays.
Wine Valley Safari
Fun transport in an open-air safari vehicle. Allowing you to fully breathe in and discover the Robertson Wine Valley in all its glory.
Choose from self-guided hop-on hop-off routes to pre-packaged wine tasting, township, and sunset tours. Tours leave adjacent to the Laverne Wine Shop in Voortrekker Road, Robertson. However, for a big group they have assured us they will fetch you from Barry House on Riverton.

Wellness Treatments @ Barry House on Riverton
Zandra Hattingh, a qualified Somatologist has all the equipment to do various different massages, facials, manicures and pedicures, body scrubs ect. As well as your more advanced treatments like chemical peels.
So relax and enjoy a treatment in the comfort of your room or on the veranda to enjoy the view.

Horse Riding
We do not have riding horses on our farm.
However, Robertson Horse Adventures is only four farms away! You can book outrides through the vineyards and along the banks of the Breede River or wine tasting carriage rides with them.
