Designed for comfort and relaxation this L-shaped lounger affords a view over the dam and the bespoke TV unit with premier DSTV etc. To the right of the dining room table there is an indoor braai for chilly winter evenings. A gas heater is also available. The enclosed courtyard is accessed via the stackable doors. Robot vacuum cleaners are on hand in the main dwelling and the adjacent office to make self-catering a synch. The tripod lamp works during loadshedding.
Who needs an oven? The kitchen is equipped with a healthy Air Fryer, induction hob, toaster, snackwich maker, juicer, coffee station and a microwave/griller and a fridge/freezer both in the latest black mirror finishes. An integrated dishwasher is hidden adjacent to the double sink and a reverse osmosis unit provides pure filtered drinking water.
LOADSHEDDING – ROBERTSON AND OUR FARM FALL UNDER ASHTON BLOCK 3
There is an inverter & battery system to keep the TV, WiFi, fridge, microwave, airfryer, kettle and the lights on!
Note: Keep showering or bath times to outside of loadshedding as our farm pumps cannot pump water without power. They unfortunately draw too much power to connect them.
There are USB ports to charge your phone set within the shelf of the bedside tables and flexible reading lights can be adjusted for good bedtime reading. The bedside and the outside wall lamps have emergency bulbs that stay on in the event of load shedding. (Robertson’s schedule falls under Ashton Block 3)
The bespoke leather king will ensure a peaceful sleep as you are cocooned in the Simon Baker hypoallergenic microfibre duvet designed to keep you at the optimal temperature. You have the choice of a hypo-allergenic firm bamboo pillow or a softer microfibre pillow.
Elegant oval stone basins perch on top of a granite counter.
“His” is the one on the right with an adjacent electric shaver socket.
Sink into the bliss of this free-standing natural stone bath fed by a waterfall spout or enjoy the spacious rain shower. No one can resist touching the 3D Origami shape shifter wall!
Office
These ceiling fan lights throughout Wine Down cottage have got to be the coolest thing! Their speakers are Bluetooth enabled so you can select the appropriate music from the playlist on your phone and decide whether you want to change the cool white or bright light to a warm white to set the mood depending on whether you are in the office or the bedroom. The remote controls the speed of the retractable fan blades.
The office has USB ports, a laptop stand, and a coffee station. It even has its own loo in case you need to quickly leave your Team or Zoom meeting.
Reading Nook
The sheltered outdoor reading nook with spotlights for the evening enjoys a view of the dam and the outdoor braai.
Outdoors
Le Corbusier inspired sun loungers, a teak table and chairs, kayak, fishing, boules court, and abundant bird life make this the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the fresh country air and warm sunshine.
Parking
Secure undercover parking is available adjacent to the cottage. Private security do random patrols of the farm.
Foaling Season
mid-August to mid-November
One of the few places in the world where guests may have the opportunity to see a foaling!
There are no guarantees, but many of our guests have been fortunate to witness a mare give birth. Mares tend to foal between midnight and 5am. Guests are welcome to leave a mobile number for a wakeup call. Have your jacket & boots ready as it can happen within 10 minutes!
Please whisper so as not to distract the mare. The foaling units are conveniently situated adjacent to Barry House.
