One World broke the South African record for individual winners by a first-crop stallion when the Fanie Bronkhurst trained One Party, bred by Riverton Stud, took on the colts to become the Drakenstein Stud’s stallion’s 23rd winner on Saturday over 1450 metres at Turffontein!
To put this phenomenal achievement into perspective, it took 17 years for One World’s sire Captain Al to break Riverton Stud’s Russian Fox’s record in 2004.
One Party makes it 3 from 3!
All 3 Riverton bred One World’s have now won as 2 year olds! One Party having won on 22nd June 2024 for his Leading First Season Sire, One World.

Well done to Pearl of Asia for accelerating from nowhere to win the Gr1 MERCURY SPRINT in fine company on the 31st July 2021! Congratulations to Owner Gerald Kalil, Trainers Robbie & Shannon Hill, and Jockey Serino Moodley who wins his first Gr1! Pearl of Asia, a Pathfork gelding out of Asiatic Pearl, is the second Riverton-bred to win this prestigious race after the second fastest horse in the World in 2015, Captain Of All, won the Gr1 Mercury by 4.5 lengths.
She’s A Cracker – Spook Express L winner
Robbie Sage and Muzi Yeni teamed up with the Riverton-bred She’s A Cracker at the Hennenman Memorial raceday at Turffontein on Saturday 10 April 2021 to win the R100 000 Listed Spook Express Handicap. The race meeting commemorated the plane crash of 12 April 1988 in which 13 jockeys, one trainer, five officials, two owners and three crew members tragically lost their lives returning from a race meeting in Bloemfontein.
Pearl of Asia – Marula Sprint Feature winner
Congratulations to owner Gerald Kalil, trainers Robbie & Shannon Hill and jockey Donovan Dillon on Pearl of Asia easily accelerating to win the Scottsville Marula Sprint Feature over 1200m on 24th Jan 2021. By Pathfork out of the mare Asiatic Pearl, this five time winning 4yo gelding took his earnings to R279 625 – not too shabby for a R35 000 purchase at the 2018 KZN Yearling Sale.

Cirillo 2nd in 3 Graded races
Cirillo, the talented son of Pomodoro trained by Sean Tarry for Chris van Niekerk, went down in a tight battle on the 5th May, to finish second in the G2 SA Nursery over 1160m under the able hands of S‘Manga Khumalo who has recently returned after injury. Cirillo, out the mare Miss Wordsworth, has now been placed in three feature races, having finished second in both the G3 Protea Stakes and Kuda Sprint at his last two outings. Well done to owner Chris van Niekerk.
Al Mariachi wins the 2017 Gr3 Umkhomazi Stakes. Congratulations to owner Gavin Glover, trainer Brett Crawford and his assistant Peter Muscutt, and jockey Corne Orffer.
