Another Shade of Grey

The stunning grey, Blue Tiger (RSA), is enjoying his retirement at Riverton Stud. He loves people – especially those that come bearing carrots.

He is still a perfectly balanced sound athlete.

Standing at 16hh he was one of the few BOLD RULER line stallions left in South Africa.

Gr 2 Diadem Stakes winner

Below a video clip of high-class sprinter-miler Blue Tiger winning the Gr 2 Diadem Stakes from Rebel King and stable companion, the legendary Pocket Power. Also footage of Blue Tiger having let down into a magnificent stallion. Despite winning the Cape Classic and the Diadem and 13 group places, often as the pace maker for Pocket Power, he was described by trainer Mike Bass, as the best horse he trained not to win a G1 race, and has thus never received significant support to prove himself as a stallion. His first winner was three year old Bia’s Blue Eye on the 3rd April 2017 over 1600m – one of just six registered three-year-olds representing her sire.
Blue Tiger accounted for numerous top class performers during his career including Pocket Power, Mother Russia, and G1 winners Smart Banker, Rebel King, O Caesour, and Lady Windermere. A son of dual G1 winner and Bold Ruler line sire Counter Action, also sire of G1 Daily News 2000 winner Fiery Fred, Blue Tiger is a half-brother to G1 Computaform Sprint winner Rodoille (6 wins). Blue Tiger’s half sister is the Dam of Pointing North (Equus Champion 3 year old Miler and Gr1 Cape Guineas winner)

The Queen’s Plate winning connections

Counter Action won the Queen’s Plate Manuka’s half sister Wainui (11 time multiple group 1 winner) won the Queen’s Plate Family of the mighty Sledgehammer (21 wins) who won the Queen’s Plate twice
